DUROMETER CALIBRATION
PTC METROLOGY™ DUROMETER CALIBRATION & CERTIFICATION
Accredited by A2LA to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Our certificate number 1896.01
PTC® Instruments manufactures Durometers in Los Angeles CA. As the PTC® durometer manufacturer, PTC® has the replacement parts in stock for all PTC® Durometers, including Indenters, Max Hands, Movements and Dial Indicators.
PTC® can repair up to 95% of all durometers submitted for repair. PTC Metrology™ is accredited by A2LA to ISO-17025 and always working towards new updates. So, there is no need to send your durometer to a calibration lab. In most cases the durometers end up here for repair because most Cal Labs don’t have the experience or expertise to adjust the units or the parts in stock. All out of tolerance instruments should be sent directly to PTC Metrology™.
Our technicians have been factory trained and certified. PTC® also participates in round robin calibration comparison with other laboratories. Our world-class durometer calibration facility uses only NIST traceable measuring and test equipment.
RMA (Return Materials Authorization) Form * 24 Hour Rush Service Available!
A written calibration report for any durometer covered by current ASTM D2240 or ASTM F1957 specifications is available from PTC Metrology™. Each certification provides both "as received" and "as left" data. The points calibrated are normally every 10 points over the durometers scale. Certification reports are also available for DIN, JIS, ISO and proprietary standards. Other types and custom durometers can also be certified including durometers from other manufacturers.
PTC durometers type A, B, C, D, DO, E, O, OO and OOO are calibrated in accordance with ASTM D2240 section 7 which includes the following measurements:
- indenter geometry
- indenter extension
- gage linearity
- force curve measurement
The calibration is traceable to NIST and conforms to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.
The calibration intervals are to be determined by the owner or customer of the unit under test. Unless otherwise requested the calibration interval on your durometer will be one year. Several factors should be taken into consideration such as: the required accuracy vs. the instruments accuracy, the impact an out of tolerance reading will have on the process, and the performance history. PTC Metrology™ has a recall program and registers your Durometers for recall by email. Please be sure to give us the correct contact when having your durometer calibrated and certified. An RMA is available on line for your convenience.
