The PTC Model 307L Durometer Shore D Classic Style is the industry standard for testing Pipeline Coatings.
Most pipeline coatings are rigid and require a Shore D Durometer, such as the PTC 307L.
Durometer measurements are often specified in pipeline coating documents to ensure that the coating meets the required performance criteria for mechanical resistance, abrasion resistance, and impact resistance.

Please take a look at our Portable Steel Hardness Tester.

The Portable Steel Hardness Tester
Measures the hardness of metals in the range of 20 to 65 HRC on the equivalent Rockwell C Scale. The instrument is fully portable and easy to use. It can easily be carried anywhere an accurate hardness test is required.

PTC IVF Thermometers are designed for hospitals, IVF clinics, and embryology Labs.
Maintaining a steady temperature of 37°C in a stable environment improves outcomes for human oocyte and embryo development.

PTC® Industrial Rail Thermometers are designed to measure surface temperatures for continuously welded or jointed rails. These thermometers meet the criteria outlined in the AREMA specification for track maintenance.

shore d scale durometers

Type D durometer is a hardness testing instrument used to measure the hardness of very hard materials, such as:

  • Hard plastics (e.g., thermosets)

  • Hard rubber

  • Composites

  • Formica

  • Hard elastomers

  • Epoxy resins

  • Flooring and ebonite

Typical Applications of Shore D Durometers

  • Injection-molded plastic parts

  • Vinyl siding

  • Fiberglass panels

  • Pipe coatings

  • Industrial floor coatings

How It Works

  • Type D durometers use a sharp-pointed, hardened steel indenter.

  • The indenter is pushed into the material under a spring-loaded force.

  • The depth of the indentation is measured and converted into a hardness value from 0 to 100 on the Shore D scale.

A written calibration report for any durometer covered by current ASTM D2440 or ASTM F1957 specifications is available from PTC Metrology™ Certification provides "as received" and "as left" data. Calibration points for force curve and gage linearity are every 10 points over the scale (0-100) of the durometer.

PTC® Shore D Scale Durometers are available in both analog and digital. (see below)
