Type OO: For Foam and Sponge Rubber, Elastomers and Textile Windings
The PTC® Analog Pencil Style Durometers are manufactured to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications and designed to measure indentation hardness of sponge rubber and foam.
The durometers 1/2" base (1.3cm) is the smallest base permitted by ASTM D2240 specifications. This allows it to be used in confined or hard to reach areas other durometers cannot test.
The instrument uses a dial gauge with a full 360 degree scale and bold, easy to read numbers. The dial scale can easily be read to 0.2 point accuracy. The dial has a red zone to indicate unreliable readings.
For readings above 90 on the Type OO scale use Type A.

PTC®'s Model 411 ASTM Type OO Durometer measures the hardness of sponge rubber, very soft rubber, and other similar materials.
The Model 411 meets or exceeds American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D2240 Specifications.
The instrument features a low glare serialized dial with bold, easy to read numbers. Each durometer comes complete with a test block and carrying case.
For the best accuracy, use of this durometer with one of our accessory Test Stands is recommended.
These Durometers come complete with Test Block and Carrying Case. The Model 410 and 413 come with magnetic max hand for indicating peak reading.
For unique or unusual materials that are not covered by other durometer types, PTC® recommends sending a full hardness range of your material for evaluation to determine the durometer type to match your material.

The PTC® 511/OO Digital Durometer is a state of the art durometer that is an ideal instrument for lab use and comes with a NIST traceable certification from PTC Metrology.
