ASTM Type C: For Medium hard rubber, elastomers thermoplastics and medium hard plastics .

The Model 502C is built to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 Specifications for Type C durometers. The durometer mainspring force is 10 lb. 4.53kgf with a truncated cone 35 included angle. The ultimate durometer for accurate hand held hardness measurements. PTC's Model 502C has a rubber grip and the 1.25" (3.2cm) diameter presser foot has a large landing area for increased stability and maximum repeatability. The durometer comes complete with magnetic max hand, test block and carrying case. Certification is available from PTC Metrology.

PTC Metrology is Accredited by A2LA to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 for durometer calibration. NIST traceable certification is available for any durometer type covered by current ASTM D2440, ASTM F1957, ISO 868, ISO 7619, or DIN 53505 standards. The Calibration Report will include both "as received" and "as left" data on the force curve measurement. Durometer calibration includes: indenter geometry and extension, indicator linearity from 0 to 100, and mainspring force. Other durometer types, custom models, and durometers of any manufacture can also be certified by PTC Metrology.
