PTC® INSTRUMENTS manufactures a full line of durometers and durometer accessories and offers calibration, repair and certification services. These durometers are available to ASTM D2240, ASTM F1957, JIS K-6301, JIS K-6253, DIN-53505, ISO-7619 and ISO-868 standards including many custom configurations. Our sales department will help you determine the correct durometer for your application. We also offer material testing to determine the correct durometer type and style for your application at no charge.

All PTC® Durometers are manufactured in the U.S.A.

PTC Metrology™ is Accredited by A2LA to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 for durometer calibration. NIST traceable certification is available for any durometer type covered by current ASTM D2440, ASTM F1957, ISO 868, ISO 7619, or DIN 53505 standards. The Calibration Report will include both "as received" and "as left" data on the force curve measurement. Durometer calibration includes: indenter geometry and extension, indicator linearity from 0 to 100, and mainspring force. Other durometer types, custom models, and durometers of any manufacture can also be certified by PTC Metrology™.

408AO ANALOG ERGO DUROMETER TYPE A
775.00
Type AO: The Model 408AO-7619 Durometer is designed to measure Type AO hardness per ISO 7619-1 Standard.
This instrument measures the indentation hardness of vulcanized or thermoplastic rubber in low hardness range and cellular rubbers. The instrument has 1/2 point accuracy for the most precise measurements. The Durometer comes standard with a Magnetic Max Hold hand, which will retain it's peak reading when needed. The case tapers to a 1" x 1" base to allow better access to confined areas and still meet the required minimum base area of 500 mm². A removable top knob permits both easy hand held use or attachment to a Test Stand. Place the specimen on a flat surface and apply the presser foot to the specimen as rapidly as possible without shock, keeping the foot parallel to the surface. The standard test time shall be 3 seconds for vulcanized rubber and 15 seconds for thermoplastic rubber. Make 5 tests at least 1/4" apart and report the results and their median value.

The Model 408 Durometer was selected by Lockheed Martin for the Orion Project. America will send a new generation of explorers to the moon aboard NASA™ 's Orion crew exploration vehicle. Making its first flights early in the next decade, Orion is part of the Constellation Program to send human explorers back to the moon, and then onward to Mars and other destinations.
