Type E: For Medium Density Textile Windings, Soft Rubber, Foamed Elastomers, Wound Threads and Yarns

The ultimate durometer for accurate hand held hardness measurements, this durometer is very similar in configuration to the durometer commonly know as ASKER C. For hardness measurements of medium density textile windings, soft rubber, foamed elastomers and wound threads. PTC's Model 501E has a 1.25" (3.2cm) diameter base for increased stability and maximum repeatability. The PTC^® Analog and Digital Style Durometers are built to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications for Type E durometers. 

The analog instrument uses a dial gauge with a full 360 degree scale and bold, easy to read numbers. The dial scale can easily be read to 0.2 point resolution. A magnetic max hand holds the peak reading until reset. The dial has a red zone to indicate unreliable readings. The Digital Durometer features a large direct read LCD display, RS232 data ports for computer compatibility, a locking feature to prevent accidental erasure of tolerances, automatic shutoff and low battery warning.
