Type C for medium hard rubber and plastics
(use when type D readings are too low)

The PTC® Ergo Style Durometers are built to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications for Type C durometers and are designed to measure the indentation hardness of medium hard rubber, elastomers, and plastics. The Model 409C has an aluminum die-cast case that tapers to a 1" x 1" base, a removable mounting knob for comfortable handheld use and comes complete with an magnetic max hand for indicating peak readings,  test block, and carrying case.  This instrument features an easy-to-read dial for faster and more accurate readings.

These durometers can be used either with a test stand or as handheld testers. Test Stands Models 320, 473 or 475

PTC Metrology is Accredited by A2LA for durometer calibration to ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1. NIST Traceable certification is available for all durometer types covered by current ASTM D2440, ASTM F1957, ISO 868, ISO 7619, or DIN 53505 standards. The Calibration Report will include both "as received" and "as left" data. Complete Durometer calibration includes: indenter geometry and extension, indicator linearity from 0 to 100 and mainspring force.
