Type B: (when Type A readings are to high)

The PTC® Ergo Style Durometers are built to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications and designed to measure the indentation hardness of rubber, elastomers, and other rubber like substances for Type B durometers. The 408B has an aluminum die-cast case that tapers to a 1" x 1" base, a removable mounting knob for comfortable handheld use and comes complete with an magnetic max hand for indicating peak readings,  test block, and carrying case. 

These durometers can be used either with a test stand or as handheld testers. The Model 408B can be used with PTC®'s Model 320, 471, 472 or 473 Test Stands; or with the Model 441 Constant Load Weight for hand-held tests. The model 408B Durometer comes complete with max hand for indicating peak readings.

A test report is included for A & D models which notes the value at 20,40 60 & 80. For complete calibration services please refer to PTC Metrology an A2LA Accredited Laboratory.

PTC Metrology is Accredited by A2LA for durometer calibration to ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1. NIST Traceable certification is available for all durometer types covered by current ASTM D2440, ASTM F1957, ISO 868, ISO 7619, or DIN 53505 standards. The Calibration Report will include both "as received" and "as left" data. Complete Durometer calibration includes: indenter geometry and extension, indicator linearity from 0 to 100 and mainspring force.
