The PTC^® Ergo Style Durometers are manufactured to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications and designed to measure the indentation hardness of rubber, elastomers, and other rubber like substances such as neoprene, silicone, vinyl, nitrile, and butyl. They can also be used for soft plastics, felt, leather, and similar materials. The 408 has an aluminum die-cast case that tapers to a 1" x 1" base. It has a removable mounting knob for comfortable handheld use, a maximum reading hand, an individual calibration test report, test block, and carrying case.  These durometers can be used either with a test stand or as hand-held testers. The Model 408 can be used with PTC^®'s Models 320, 471, 472 or 473 Test Stands; or with the Model 441 Constant Load Weight for hand-held tests.
