Type OO: For Foam and Sponge Rubber, Elastomers and Textile Windings

The PTC Analog Pencil Style Durometers are manufactured to meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications and designed to measure indentation hardness of sponge rubber and foam. The durometers 1/2" base (1.3cm) is the smallest base permitted by ASTM D2240 specifications. This allows it to be used in confined or hard to reach areas other durometers cannot test. The instrument uses a dial gauge with a full 360 degree scale and bold, easy to read numbers. The dial scale can easily be read to 0.2 point accuracy. The dial has a red zone to indicate unreliable readings.   For readings above 90 on the Type OO scale use Type A.


Test Stands are available for increased accuracy, and speed of operation.

203 Pencil Style Durometer
PTC Metrology is Accredited by A2LA to ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 for durometer calibration. NIST traceable certification is available for any durometer type covered by current ASTM D2440, ASTM F1957, ISO 868, ISO 7619, or DIN 53505 standards. The Calibration Report will include both "as received" and "as left" data on the force curve measurement. Durometer calibration includes: indenter geometry and extension, indicator linearity from 0 to 100, and mainspring force. Other durometer types, custom models, and durometers of any manufacture can also be certified by PTC Metrology.
